LOCATION: Eckerö, Sweden
DATE: June 2017
HEIGHT: 6 meters
SURFACE: 25 m²
MATERIALS: Six oak trees as support, 50% recycled wood from the farm, apple orchard branches, 200-year-old cart wheels, and treated pine flooring.
The project crystallized out of a glacial moraine; on a small organic farm ‘Rosenhill’ on the island of Eckerö, near Stockholm. Rosenhill had a hill and plenty of roses and Ecekrö was the North-most island on which oak trees would grow; thus named ‘Oak-krö’. The treehouse is comfortably tucked into a grove of slow-grown Pinus sylvestris that line the small hill. Using ancient elements from the farm’s heritage storerooms to compile this treehouse allowed us to closely experience the magical functioning of this farm.
