LA CASITA
Originally named after its host, #19 Antonello's Beach Hut evolved into a charming retreat as La Casita, part of La Maison Bleue. True to its name, this stilt house offers the soothing sounds of ocean waves and a gentle sea breeze. Nestled among trees, the structure is supported by four sturdy posts made from naturally shaped Acacia wood, securely attached to reused tyres that form a movable concrete foundation. The house itself is crafted from hardwood beams and floor planks, featuring a traditional areca nut (pakku maram) loft.
THE BCD
The BCD, located in the heart of an Indian metropolis, stands as a remarkable example of a treehouse-inspired stilt house built against all odds. The Bhartiya City Development group, known for constructing skyscrapers, envisioned a treehouse as the welcoming entrance to the city's new school. Despite the arid surroundings, they transplanted a common raintree, beside which #99 The BCD was constructed. Supported by six tyre post stilts, the house features a comfortable staircase leading to a balcony connected to a spacious room with double doors on either side.
